  • shootouts - May 11 - Gary Bohlender
As a goalie, I'm all for it. Sounds like fun. As goalies we're twisted anyway.

  • OT and shootouts - Apr 28 - Fred Ashworth
I would have posted in the general messages folder but, I didn't get the Create a new message button so, I'll post in each league folder:
I sent some e-mails earlier this year with the idea/request that the league look at resolving tie games with shootouts. The response I received was that this topic had been discussed between league reps and was viewed favorably and it would be possible to implement this summer, as a trial.
Has there been any decision on this subject?
What do other players in the leagues think about this (respond to this thread with feedback)?

    • Re: OT and shootouts - Apr 28 - Mike Hasan
I love the idea. It would add just a couple of minutes tops to each game, and the players would enjoy it. Great idea, Fred!

      • Re: OT and shootouts - Apr 30 - Daniel Pratt
I think that'd be fun, although I'm not a big fan of any idea that makes the late Wednesday game even later. If there's a way we could push those games up by fifteen or twenty minutes--or an hour and a half--to make up for the small lost time from shootouts, I'd be all for it.

        • Re: Re: OT and shootouts - May 1 - Fred Ashworth
Let's stay focused here Dan and leave the whole game start time issue out of it. Besides, if you look at the numbers for the different leagues; 16% of the games played resulted in a tie, roughly 1 game in 6. That's hardly an argument to move game times up an hour and a half.

          • Re: OT and shootouts - May 3 - Daniel Pratt
Okay, then. In divisions where all the teams make the playoffs (like the summer leagues usually do it), shootouts would be a gimmick--essentially meaningless entertainment--and that sounds fine to me.
In a six-team division, though, where there are actual playoff spots to be earned (rather than being clinched before Game 1 even starts), the extra point(s) a team picks up or loses in shootouts could determine whether or not it makes the playoffs. I think that puts too much emphasis on a team's goaltender and top three or four shooters, and not enough emphasis on what the other ten or twelve skaters on the team do during the game.

            • Re: Re: OT and shootouts - May 3 - Craig Stinehour
You are 100% correct about the entertainment factor. In other leagues that have tried this the general concensus is that there wasn't any major affect on the final standings overall. We shall see. As noted on the main page - no need to discuss this, as it had been already decided to try it, we just hadn't announced anything as of yet until today. Hope it does add to the overall experience.

  • Missing equipment - Feb 6 - Daniel Pratt
Did anybody pick up an extra helmet and pair of gloves after the February 3rd games? Usually I just forget my stuff at home; now I'm apparently leaving it at the rink.
    Thanks,
    Dan Pratt

  • Game missed last week due to snow - Nov 3 - Steve Lilley
Just wondering, do you know when the game we missed last week will be made up?

    • Re: Game missed last week due to snow - Nov 6 - Darrow Clark
We will be extending the season by one week to accommodate the make-up game.
I will have the schedule corrected soon.

  • Draft - Sep 14 - Mark Koenig
Is the draft at Od's tonight?

    • Re: Draft - Sep 14 - Craig Stinehour
      no. mulligans
